About Layla & Sophia

Layla and Sophia met while working together at NYLON magazine where they built the culture section to be a reputable and sought-after place for books coverage, particularly notable for highlighting independent literature, magazines, and publishers. Together, they covered releases from Anna Dorn, Chelsea Hodson, Alexandra Tanner, Madeline Cash, Marlowe Granados, Ottessa Moshfegh, and more.

Layla is a writer and editor in Manhattan. Prior to her role as culture editor at NYLON, she wrote for The FADER, Dazed, Stereogum, VICE and more. She’s currently working on her debut novel. 

Sophia is a writer in Brooklyn. Previously the culture writer at NYLON, she’s written for The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Pitchfork, and more. Her fiction has been published by Far West, Flaunt, and others. She is working on her first novel.
